135th Express Entry Draw in Canada Invites 3,400 Candidates to Seek Permanent Residence

The Canadian government on January 22nd issued 3,400 invitations to apply for permanent residence specifically to the candidates in Express Entry at the cut-off CRS score of 471, reporting a two-point reduction over the score applied in the draw held on January 8th. IRCC has at this time issued 6,800 Invitations to Apply in 2020 in its Express Entry in this year.  Canada set a high admissions target for 2020 at 85,800 and also for 2021 (88,800) for the programs administered in Express Entry.

Express Entry Selection System

Express Entry, introduced in 2015, serves as a primary source to attract skilled overseas workers in Canada. It manages the candidates’ pool for three programs in high-skilled immigration

• Federal Skilled Worker Class,

• Canadian Experience Class

• Federal Skilled Trades Class

All Eligible candidates get a score in the Comprehensive Ranking System, on factors like education, age, and skilled work experience plus language proficiency (English /French).

Having the job offer is not an eligibility requirement in Express Entry but there are extra points in CRS to the candidates who have them. Authorities issue a set number of Invitations to the top-scoring candidates to seek permanent residence in regular draws taking place every two weeks.

IRCC has applied a tie-break mechanism with May 9, 2019, at 01:16:02 UTC for this draw. Thus all candidates having the score of 471 and submitting the profile prior to this received an ITA.

The processing standard time is six months for applications aiming to get permanent residence in the Express Entry.

PNP Streams

Nine provinces and two territories have an enhanced PNP stream linked to the Express Entry. Some streams have lower or some of them have no CRS requirement and hence the participating provinces and territories can select candidates thereby inviting them to seek provincial nomination and move ahead in permanent residence.

Also the candidates in Express Entry obtaining a provincial nomination collect 600 extra points in the CRS score and get the ITA. The following is a hypothetical example of candidates who would have obtained an ITA in the January 22 draw:

Holders of a Masters Degrees and scoring 8 in listening plus 7 in writing reading, and speaking in the IELTS can enter the pool when they have a required CRS score. Please contact us for any details.
