Manitoba Issues 249 Invitations to Candidates Having the Expression of Interest Profiles


On January 17th Manitoba has invited skilled workers and international student graduates, both in the province and abroad, to seek the provincial nomination for permanent residence.

Additionally, its Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has issued 249 Letters of Advice to the candidates in these streams:

• Skilled Workers in Manitoba; (192)

• Skilled Workers Overseas; (34)

• International Education Stream (23)

This was the 81st draw after the program started in 2014.

Express Entry Candidates


Among the 249 invitations in the draw, 22 were in favor of Express Entry candidates.

The Express Entry has a task of managing the candidates’ pool in the main Classes of economic immigration

• Federal Skilled Trades Program,

• Federal Skilled Worker Program,

• Canadian Experience Class

The candidates in Express Entry get a score calculated on the Comprehensive Ranking System after measuring factors like work experience, education, age, and language proficiency. The candidates with the highest-score get invited and can apply for permanent residence in the regular Express Entry draws.

Also, the candidates who get the provincial nomination receive 600 additional CRS points, serving as a guarantee to get the invitation to apply for permanent residence in a later Express Entry draw.

The norms for such provincial nominations in Manitoba are that the Express Entry candidates have to possess eligible work experience in a top demand occupation. They also have to submit Expression of Interest to the Program separately.

Expression of Interest


The norm for such invitation for Manitoba provincial nomination in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, as well as, in Skilled Worker Overseas is that the candidates, must register, Expression of Interest with the Program.

The EOI - an online profile is ranked from the score of 1,000 Points. There is the factorization of education, work experience, 
Manitoba connections, and English or French proficiency.

A specific number of the top-scoring candidates get the LAA, which allows them to seek the provincial nomination for permanent residence through Manitoba.

The score in the latest draw, of the lowest-ranked candidate in the Skilled Worker Manitoba Stream, was 545. For the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream it was 708.

SWO and SWM Categories


The Skilled Worker Overseas Category allows the Program to select as well as nominate skilled overseas workers who support the local labor market. Candidates should have a provincial connection like a close family member or a friend, previous education or provincial work experience, or finally, the invitation through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, apart from some other requirements.

There is no need to exist in Manitoba while applying.

The 34 invited candidates in SWO Stream belonged directly to the Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
The criteria for the Candidates in SWM Category was working in Manitoba plus having a permanent full-time, job offer from the employer.

International Education Stream


Manitoba graduates possessing the top demand skills get invited in this Stream which has these sub-categories:

• Graduate Internship Pathway,

• Career Employment Pathway,

• Student Entrepreneur Pathway
